Apply ice to the area following a 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off schedule for up to 2 hours. DO NOT leave ice on any area continuously.

If there is bleeding, apply firm but gentle pressure with a piece of clean gauze or a small piece of clean cloth.

If bleeding does not stop after 15 minutes, take the child to the Children's Hospital emergency room immediately.
